Aissata
My name is Aissata and I’m a junior economics major from the Bronx. At Wellesley, I’m a proud member of Yanvalou, Tower House Council and the Paulson Initiative. In my free time, I enjoy going on walks, listening to music and watching women’s basketball.
The most exciting thing about being a Paulson International Study Fellow is the opportunity to immerse myself in a new environment and build meaningful connections. I hope that this experience will lead to memorable moments in nature.
Caroline (they/them)
Hello! I am a junior majoring in art history and French and I am studying abroad this semester in Aix-en-Provence in the south of France. In my free time, I enjoy reading, crocheting, playing guitar, and rowing.
The most exciting thing about being a Paulson International Study Fellow is having the opportunity to deepen my connection with my study abroad location by learning about local environmental issues. I am eager to engage with fellow students and members of the community to explore the history and culture of this incredible region and find out how I can contribute to local sustainability efforts.
Elina (she/hers)
Hi! I’m Elina. I’m happiest outdoors and enjoy sharing that joy with other people. If I’m not at a soccer field, you’ll probably catch me climbing rocks, reading under a tree, skiing down a mountain, or swimming in a body of (probably cold!) water.
Being a Paulson International Study Fellow gives me the chance to do something that I would want to do either way, but ensures I have the dedicated time to do it as well as the support of Wellesley and the Paulson community. I am excited to explore a new environment and learn about local sustainability efforts specific to it. I hope to learn and create in a way that contributes to these efforts, leaving a positive impact that lasts way beyond my return to Wellesley.
Isabella (she/hers)
I’m a rising junior majoring in ES and political science from Burlington, VT. I’m studying in the very south of Argentina this semester where I’m hoping to learn Spanish, see penguins, and travel to Antarctica!
I’m glad to have a bit of structure to help me connect with this new and unique environment so different from anywhere I’ve been before. I’m probably most excited that I get to share my experiences here with other people who are interested in Patagonia and the Antarctic region, as it is such an amazing place.
Jenneh (she/hers)
Hello! My name is Jenneh Lesaldo, I am a current junior at Wellesley College majoring in American Studies with a prospective minor in Environmental Studies. I am particularly interested in studying Indigenous environmentalism and ethnobotany.
The most exciting thing about being a Paulson International Study Fellow is the opportunity to get involved with my community in a meaningful and integrated way. It is important to me that I make the most of my study abroad experience and build connections with people across the world.
Josiane (she/hers)
I am junior at Wellesley college majoring in Computer science with a minor in Biochemistry. I am studying at Queen Mary of London this fall and I look forward to explore the city!
The most exciting aspect of being a Paulson International Study Fellow is the opportunity to deeply engage with nature in ways I never have before. By using all five senses to explore and connect with my surroundings at my sit spot, I can experience the environment in a profound and immersive way that enhances both my understanding and appreciation of the natural world.
Julia (she/her)
Hello! I’m a junior majoring in environmental studies and am studying in Copenhagen, Denmark this semester. I’m really interested in conservation efforts, and in my free time you
can find me running or trying out new coffee shops!
I’m excited about this program because it encourages us to engage with a new place and culture through the environment! I’m looking forward to discovering more about Denmark and reading about the adventures of other fellows. Denmark is well known for its sustainability, and I am interested in exploring how practices like urban farming and green energy are implemented here!
Khahliso (they/she)
I am Khahliso Myataza, a junior Johannesburg. the City of Gold, hence everything I do is golden.
I am so excited to explore the fourna and flora in London. I really really love nature and being able to stop the noise of the world and stop time so that I can give nature the attention it deserves. So excited to be immersed in different spaces!
Mariam
My name is Mariam and I’m a rising Junior from Boston studying Economics!
What’s most exciting is being given the opportunity to focus on something outside of my normal academic course load. I’m looking forward to bringing in my unique perspective and sharing my thoughts with everyone!
Yewon (she/hers)
Senior studying abroad in Geneva, which I chose because I’m interested in climate policy, and IHEID is a 10 minute walk from the UN. I consider myself eccentric and eclectic—make of that what you will—but I guess it all depends on what mood I’m in!
The most exciting thing about being an ISF fellow is that I get to take a little piece of Wellesley with me abroad. Going to a new country and starting fresh (even if it’s only for a short period) can be intimidating and lonely, so having a network of Wellesley peers I get to connect and learn with while still exploring my new community is really comforting! I’m also grateful that I’m being held accountable for reflecting and connecting with my environment because I often neglect these types of grounding practices when I get swept up in the current of academics, work, and life in general.
