It’s good to be back.
There’s no easing back in to the pace of things at Wellesley. You get here, start to unpack, plan out your schedule then BAM you’re on your way.
The semester has already been so *full* in so many ways. I’ve rearranged my schedule from how I had planned it back in May, so that now I’m free on Fridays and Thursday mornings to early evening! Perfect senior fall schedule.
I’m taking two Women’s and Gender Studies classes, one called Health Activism and another called Representation of Women, Natives, and Others.
I’m also taking a class in the American Studies Department with Professor Jeffries called The Real Barack Obama, where we look at President Obama’s career and legacy, as well as political personality from various perspectives. A few of my really good friends are in this class too, so I’m excited to be taking such a pertinent course with people I talk to on a regular basis about politics and people anyway, and learn to discuss issues in an academic setting with them. Also, I’m thinking if I didn’t major in WGST I definitely would have chosen either American Studies or International Relations.
I’m also taking a History class for the first time in college this year about China, Korea, and Japan. The first class already started off on a great note – Professor Matsusaka is a great lecturer an I’m just genuinely looking forward to learning more about these three countries’ pasts and how they are so intricately connected.
Convocation happened last week as well!
Convocation is a tradition at Wellesley that marks the beginning of the school year. Seniors wear their graduation robes (!!! so many of my extended family members saw the pictures on facebook and thought I was graduating already) and faculty, as well as student representatives make speeches, etc. It pretty much felt like a dress rehearsal for graduation – which is eight months away!!
Pumped and ready for my last year as an undergrad!!
