Procrastination, Why?

Ahhhhh. I have so much to do and not enough time.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween

It’s my own fault, really. I knew I had a lot of things due on this week, as well as the following few weeks, but I have been too busy enjoying life. Balancing schoolwork, social life, and rest is likely something you have struggled with as well. Usually I sacrifice my social life and sleep, but I have found that my schoolwork suffers from that. This semester I have been much better than usual at getting (almost) enough sleep, and I have a healthy social life. Although I do feel that my work is better quality now, and stress regarding schoolwork is lower than it has been for years, I wish I were not finishing my assignments at the last minute. On time, but barely so. I told myself that I would be better about that this semester, but procrastination is hard to beat.

I am now halfway through the semester. Time is going by incredibly fast, and I am not ready for the semester to end. I have only one more trip planned for this semester (besides the trips to Dublin and Derry/Londonderry I am taking with my program), and although I want to travel more, I have to be more careful about money and time. With assignment due dates coming up, I will need a lot of time to ensure that my work is thorough… not just something that I write for a grade, but something that I am proud of. Nevertheless, there are a lot more places I want to visit during my year here: France, Spain, Portugal, Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, Greece… I don’t see how I will possibly have time to travel to all these places, but I will try. In order for this to be possible, I would like to find a job. I have been looking for a bit, but not seriously enough. My visa allows me to work 20 hours per week, but I would not want to work more than 10. Working abroad would be a pretty cool experience, and hopefully would allow me to travel over winter break.

I leave for Iceland on Friday. It is the first trip I will ever take entirely by myself, which makes me nervous and excited. Although I have a general idea of what I want to do, I have to figure out the specifics still. I have been wanting to go to Iceland for years now, and I can barely believe I will be there in only a few days. I can’t wait to tell you all about it. Until then, here are the pictures from my trip to London and Stonehenge.

Good luck on midterms!
