Ever since the beginning of college, I have been unable to make reading a priority. I went from reading nearly 200 books in a year to reading 30 or 40… Although reading 200 books in a year now seems nearly impossible, I am happy to say that 2017 is off to a great start. In the months of January and February I have read no fewer than 11 books—most of them quite long. I am also extremely excited to finally have read the Harry Potter series again. The Harry Potter series is what first got me into reading, but I only read it once, back when I only read in Spanish. I first finished the series probably around 10 years ago, and in those years I had forgotten more details than I care to admit. Spending a year in the United Kingdom, the birthplace of the Harry Potter, finally got me to delve back into the fantastical world built by J.K. Rowling. The books did not disappoint, and I found myself unable to put them down. I ended up reading the last three novels in less than a week, then the two plays that have since been released. Now, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was a sore disappointment, but I just recently began Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them and it’s off to a good start!
Reading Harry Potter has, unsurprisingly, (slightly) taken over my life. I am now trying to figure out when it would be best to travel to London to take a tour of Warner Bros. I am also feeling my old dream to become a writer coming back. I haven’t focused on writing since I was in Grade Six or Seven, when it was my main goal in life. Although I have kept the illusion of maybe someday writing a novel, I have never done more than write down an idea here and there. I haven’t quite figured anything out… I don’t have much time to spare on creative writing, but I am hesitant to let go of this dream yet again. Perhaps I shall begin by creating a goal calendar or a timetable and sticking to it. I honestly haven’t decided.
On top of reading, classes, and schoolwork, this week was filled with job applications and interviews. I don’t have anything set in stone yet, but the interviews went well, and I am looking forward to what the upcoming summer will bring. I am happy with how my interviews went, and I am now preparing for a second interview in the upcoming week. I am also preparing for my sister’s visit in less than two weeks. I will likely be unable to get much done while she is here, so I have to start working on my assignments due in March. Hopefully my bullet journal will help me keep track of everything that is going on.
Until next week~
