So last week came and went without a post. I was caught up in the idea of home and then actually being at home. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days of the year because it marks the beginning of the holiday season and I also just love canned cranberry sauce. This year, however, I am going to try something new– I am going to try and be more thankful every day. So, to kick that off here are just a few things that I am thankful for :
- friends and family ~ I truly think I’ve somehow tricked my friends into liking me because I have some pretty solid people in my life. I have great friends at Wellesley, back home in Upstate New York and some from home that go to school in Boston too. Somehow I also managed to have a pretty stellar family.
- movies ~ Over Thanksgiving break my friend Lilly and I watched A LOT of movies; we watched Glass Castle, Parent Trap, Freaky Friday and one more I can’t remember the name of. It reminded me how nice it is to suspend reality and just allow yourself to veg out.
- cookie dough ~ Ever since I was younger, whenever my mom would make chocolate chip cookies, we would always get a spoonful of cookie dough before the cookies went in the oven. I know all of my friends are rolling their eyes and saying ummm Caroline you’re a vegan?! but they actually make some bomb vegan cookie dough that I highly recommend.
- fuzzy blankets/pillows/robes/literally anything ~ I love sleeping– probably way too much so anything that I can snuggle up and nap with is AMAZING.
- the path around Lake Waban ~ Let me just tell you there is nothing quite like running around the lake just before sunset. It’s my favorite place to run on campus and a great way to clear my head. I always go after a big test or presentation just to re-center myself for the rest of the day.
- driving ~ Since I live relatively close to Wellesley (6 hours away in the car) I drive home instead of flying or taking the train. I drove back to Wellesley yesterday with my friend Lilly from Wellesley and two girls from home, Kelly and Becca, who go to schools in the area. While I was not a fan of the traffic it was a road trip full of singing at the tops of our lungs and talking about anything and everything.
and last but not least….
- aesthetically pleasing cafes ~ I know this is so *basic* of me but I do love a good cafe… especially one that is also beautiful. Places like Starbucks or Tatte are honestly where I get my work done the fastest. It also doesn’t hurt that cafes make for good Instagram backdrops.
xoxo,
Caroline
