Hello hello!
Congrats to all those who received likely letters (@Wellesley2023)! For those of you still anxiously waiting for results, don’t fret! You’re almost at the end of your college process! Exciting news awaits you.
Today, I wanted to share what one Wednesday at Wellesley looks like for me. Wednesdays are pretty relaxed, and since I don’t have class until 6:30pm, I’m able to craft my day around what I need to accomplish.
I started my morning with the sun streaming through my window at around 7:40am (what a nice and natural way to wake up)!
For breakfast, I headed to the Tower Dining Hall, which is conveniently located inside Severance, so I don’t need to step outside! On cold days like today, I’m even more grateful that I don’t need to leave my dorm for food. The dining hall definitely has a rustic, Harry Potter Great Hall vibes.
After breakfast, I went to catch the 9am bus to MIT. Many reading this might not know that during the academic year, Wellesley students, through cross-registration, may participate in the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) at MIT for credit, for pay, or as a volunteer. It’s an added benefit and exposure to research that Wellesley students have access to! I have been doing linguistics research at MIT through UROP for the past year, and it has been so rewarding! Anyway, I headed to MIT in the morning to submit my paperwork. It was a nice morning excursion. The Wellesley-MIT exchange bus makes it fairly convenient to go to Cambridge and Boston on weekdays, running every hour.
When I returned to campus, I grabbed some lunch in Stone Davis (fun fact: Hillary Clinton lived in Stone-D), and headed to Clapp library to revise my film essay with a writing tutor, a great resource on campus!
After my meeting, I did my philosophy reading. We’re currently reading Leviathan, by Thomas Hobbes! I also finished my art history reading for tomorrow’s class.
At 5pm, I headed to the Houghton Chapel and Multifaith Center, for weekly mindful meditation. One of my 2019 goals is to meditate at least once a week. I didn’t even know Wellesley offered mindful meditation, I’m grateful for it. Usually after meditation, I eat dinner with friends and head to my 6:30pm film class on Shades of Love in Indian Cinema. The class and discussions have been very interesting so far – especially on how women are portrayed in Indian film. The class meets once a week, and ends at 9:10pm. It’s my first night class, and I love it. Once class is over, I head back to Severance and finish any work I have to do for the next day and chat with my two awesome roommates. I usually call it a day around 11pm.
Well, there you go! This is what a Wednesday looks like for me. I usually have days that are more or less busy, depending on what is happening in my classes. I will definitely do this again, maybe on a different day to showcase the wide variety of busy, yet rewarding, days here at Wellesley!
Signing off for now,
Shreya
