week two online

This week marked the second week of online classes. I’m starting to get used to it but I will admit, it is still not ideal.

Most of my professors have downsized the course  in order to focus on the readings and discussion. We do not have many assignments or projects to work on. Personally, I am very happy this. Working from home is hard because I live with quite a few people and do not have a quiet space to work in. I would have much preferred to pass all my classes and be done, but I understand that that is not possible. Most of my classes have shifted to Zoom, while one of my classes is done on a blog. I didn’t think it would work, but I am really enjoying that format so far.

I believe I mentioned this last week, or sometime in the past, but I am extremely grateful to my professors this semester. One of my favorite things about Wellesley is the networks you build with the professors you work with. I have been given so many opportunities from the relationships I have built with my professors.

My advice to you, incoming first-years or anyone reading this blog, is to get to know your professors. Every semester, choose at least 1 course where you are not only interested in the course, but getting to know the instructor. Try to get to know that one person and if you like them keep taking classes with them; even if they are not in your major. Most of my favorite professors are in departments completely different from mine but from whom I have learned a lot. You won’t realize how important those relationships are until you are like me, graduating and looking back on the things that made Wellesley great.

-Until next time
