Hi!! My name is Lynsey and I’ve officially started my junior year! This is my first blog post and I am so excited to be able to share a few pockets of my Wellesley experience with you! I was born and raised in Miami, FL and I am of Cuban and Puerto Rican descent. I am currently in Miami, FL taking virtual Wellesley courses!
I fell in love with Wellesley for two main reasons:
- An opportunity to be curious!!: Throughout my college search, I had no idea what I wanted to major in. In my first semesters at Wellesley, I was able to be curious and take courses in the Physics, Philosophy, Africana Studies, History, Political Science , and Economics departments. Ultimately, I fell in love with Economics (major) and Philosophy (minor). Although I’ve declared my major and minor, I really love that I am able to continue exploring departments through Wellesley’s flexible curriculum. The opportunity to pursue curiosity goes hand and hand with the liberal arts education. Similarly, the scope of my exploration extends to the opportunity to cross-register for courses at MIT and Babson, which I really recommend and have had amazing experiences doing so!
- People: My decision to attend Wellesley was based on my campus visit and a Wellesley Alumnae Event in my hometown. On my campus visit, I was able to speak with intellectual and personable students who hailed from quite literally every part of the world. At the Wellesley Alumnae Event, I met confident, passionate, accomplished alums who I knew I wanted to be like. They recounted their experience of making life-long friends. While at Wellesley, I’ve been able to develop personal relationships with my professors who respect me as a student and person.
And, of course, the beautiful campus, proximity to Boston, and yummy ice cream doesn’t hurt!!
I am really excited to be starting my admissions blog and wanted to focus this post on introducing myself! But, I am hoping to make this space a place where I can share & preserve some Wellesley traditions with you, give you insight into my everyday experiences, and give you color on some of the orgs I am a part of.
With Love,
Lynsey
