The list goes on

What’s up guys!! I’ve been busy, busy, busy! It’s funny – a lot
of people consciously choose to be involved in a variety of activities in high
school (we all know why). However, in college, you can become swamped before
you even think about it.

I’ll explain. The week before last, I met my professor for a
get-to-know you meeting. At Wellesley, I’ve found that many professors have mandatory
chats with every student in their class at the beginning of the semester. That
way, students feel more comfortable coming to office hours if they feel the
need to later.

Anyway, my professor asked me what I was involved in because
she likes to get a sense of what her students are doing when they aren’t in
class with her. Before I knew it, I had rattled off Ethos, Ministry to Black
Women, Mental Health Educators, Admissions Assistant/Blogger, and the MIT chapter
of the National Society of Black Engineers (I’m not a engineering major and I obviously
don’t go to MIT, but that’s another blog).

I hadn’t even realized how much I do until I registered her
facial expression. Honestly, my schedule is fairly modest compared to some of
my friends’. Why do so much? Well, there are a lot of reasons, like building
relationships and learning new skills. There’s also that great feeling you get
when you help your organization to complete a project. Right now I’m basking in
the glow of recent accomplishment. One of my organizations, Ethos, threw a
party last Saturday that was a raging success. Here’s the flyer that my bestie
designed:

Dejavu

And here’s the two of us shortly before the party started (I’m
on the right, shiny dress).  So for the
rest of the year you can expect for me to alternately gush and complain about
meetings, elections, and planning – but I do love (all of) what I do.
