Howdy blog, and happy Thursday!
As I write this post, I am sitting in the Snuggle Cave absolutely soaking wet and very chilly from a trip down to the Ville in the rain to pick up a prescription and some Sesame Street band-aids. After I write this blog post, I have a long and very important to-do list to follow:
- Clean my dorm room (things have gotten a little rough in here, I will admit)
- Cut my hair (sides have gotten a little bushy, which unfortunately means I’ve looked a bit like a hedgehog in recent weeks)
- Shower
- Laundry
- Readings for class tomorrow
- Carillon
- Start reading for class on Monday
My hope is that sticking the to-do list on the blog will encourage me to actually follow through with it, but knowing my procrastination habits from this year I’m not entirely sure it will be effective.
Anyways, in way more exciting news than my chores, I have a Big, Exciting Announcement: I’m going to be an RA next year! (cue the cheers, applause, etc, etc.)
That’s right, your favorite first-year blogger will be spending sophomore year as the Residence Assistant of Bates 3rd! If you’ve been reading my blog since the beginning, you know how much I’ve loved living in the Quint this year; I won’t say that the idea of moving all the way across campus doesn’t intimidate me a little bit, but the more I think about it, the more excited I am for it. I think it’ll be really good to have a change of pace, and I’m never going to complain about living a couple floors above my favorite dining hall. All in all, I’m super duper excited and I can’t wait to tell you all about being an RA and living on East Side and all of the other cool and exciting things to come next year!
I won’t get too far ahead of myself; there are still four weeks left in the semester and I’m going to try to make them all count. I think I might start on my packing when I’m cleaning my room today, so that I won’t have to stress as much about throwing everything together and taking all of my finals at the same time like I did last semester. As I write this blog post, I’m taking down the tape and dead string lights in the Snuggle Cave- hopefully next year’s string lights will hold up longer. Another plan for next year: actually using the bed frame. Sleeping on a mattress on the floor was kind of cool for a while but has definitely gotten a bit old. Maybe when I’m cleaning this evening I’ll fix it, but who knows. I’ve already procrastinated my to-do list for two hours since starting this blog. I’m a very unreliable protagonist.
Final note: goslings have arrived on campus! Anastasija and I were actually hissed at and almost attacked by some geese parents. That was not an experience I’d like to repeat. I will be avoiding all goslings and their overprotective parents in the future, no matter how cute they may be.
Sending you joy!
