Lip Sync Champions and Other Snapshots from a Week Well-Lived

Hello blog, and happy Wednesday!

This week has been crazy busy! Since I last wrote to you, I’ve been to a tree-lighting, gone Christmas shopping, played at Holiday Open Tower, and- drumroll, please- won Wellesley’s Fall 2021 Lip-Sync Competition!

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the event, Lip-Sync is a twice yearly competition held by Wellesley’s House Presidents Council, where student orgs and dorm House Councils compete for the title of Lip Sync Champions. This semester Bates were the defending champions, and we pulled through with our incredible rendition of Selena Gomez and the Scene’s “Hit the Lights”, choreographed by my friend Abby, our first floor RA. We were decked out in all black and taped glow sticks to our body for a dramatic reenactment of the campus wide blackout earlier this semester. Overall, we were just totally awesome, and I’m so proud of Abby for the way all of her hard work paid off last night.

Last week I talked about a tree-lighting ceremony in the Boston Commons my friend Emma and I were going to on Thursday night; our train was a bit delayed by a domestic dispute in the car behind us and I was really worried we weren’t going to make it to the Commons by the time they lit the tree up at 7:59 PM. Thankfully, luck was on our side that night; we got there moments before Boston mayor Michelle Wu turned the lights on! See below for pictures.

Me at the tree-lighting! I think I look a little crazy in this picture but it pretty accurately captures how excited I was!

Sunday was the Guild of Carillonneurs’ Holiday Open Tower, where I played “O Holy Night”. We also reopened the Guild merch form for the winter, which was my first big push as the Guild’s Fundraising Chair!

I’ve been opening up the doors on my twelve-day yarn advent calendar every second day this month, and the other day I opened it to the absolute most incredible shade of blue the world has ever seen. Angels would sing about this color. It’s so beautiful and my new favorite color. I love it so much. I’m knitting a little blanket square in a dandelion stitch with it; I’m including a picture below of my stuffed panda bear sitting next to it that I sent to my mom the other morning.

My mom’s TimeHop post from that morning, which inspired the snap of Panda and the blanket square

I hope you’re all wrapping things up wherever you are; I know that I for one am very ready for this semester to end and for winter break to begin!

Sending you joy,

Andrew

P.S. The header image is a picture Emma took of me with a paper snowflake we made at Abby’s December floor program on my head- I just thought it was funny!

P.P.S. Tonight the first snow is sticking to the ground at Wellesley!!!!!
