Flower Sunday <3

Hey all!

I hope that everyone had a great weekend! This weekend one of my favorite Wellesley traditions took place; Flower Sunday. Flower Sunday is a special tradition where students are matched with a “Big” and a “Little.” During my first year at Wellesley, I was matched with a “Big,” and we were able to spend the day together and enjoy the delicious brunch food that was prepared at the dining hall.

This year, I had a “Little” for the first time and her name is Vivi! We actually both live in the same dorm hall which was really exciting to find out. Rather than going to the on campus brunch, we headed into the downtown of Wellesley to try out a popular new cafe called Tatte! It was a nice change of scenery despite how beautiful the campus looked. Eating out can be a fun treat to enjoy on special occasions such as Flower Sunday. I had a delicious avocado toast with egg (gluten free, of course), and Vivi had a scrambled egg-prosciutto sandwich. Overall, the food was great and the company was even better.

Weekends at Wellesley are always enjoyable because of how many options there are for how to spend time. I personally enjoy walking into town to grab a coffee and enjoy the chillier early morning temperatures. The bus takes students into Boston all week and weekend long and there are even more opportunities to explore and hang out with friends in the city. Plus, the shopping on Newbury Street is no joke. It’s like the best outdoor mall ever!

Overall, this weekend was a lot of fun. That’s not to say I didn’t spend many hours doing work because I certainly did. One of the beautiful things about Wellesley is the balance between working hard and enjoying life still. The opportunities to explore and enjoy the Boston area are a huge part of life at Wellesley. Students enjoy exploring, hanging out and grabbing a meal in the city as a great way to connect with classmates and get familiar with the surrounding city. Until next week, Wellesley!
