Last Wednesday was Lake Day! Lake Day is a day every fall where the weather is nice and the school cancels classes. It’s supposed to be a day to relax, have fun outside, catch up on work, whatever you want.
Unfortunately, my lake day had a rough start: I woke up a bit late for my 8:30am lab. But the Wellesley Lake Day gods were looking out for me, because after having a mini heart attack seeing what time it was on my phone, the next thing I saw was an email notification from the school saying: “No classes today – Lake Day!” A HUGE wave of relief washed over me.
I let myself have a slow morning. I laid in bed for a while, showered, got breakfast, and walked around campus to enjoy the sun. I did math homework outside the Quint. Then I got lunch with a friend and we worked on a homework assignment together.
I went to math office hours because I had a test on Friday, so I wanted to ask questions. Afterwards, I knew that SBOG, an organization that plans fun campus events, had organized carnival games and food. But to be honest, I was feeling kind of tired and didn’t want to go. So instead, I went on a walk to my favorite quiet spot on campus. Yes, I’m going to gatekeep this location because I’m selfish and want to enjoy it for myself. But I will just say it’s a really peaceful spot in the woods. One of my favorite parts about Wellesley is its gorgeous campus; I love being able to retreat into the woods to clear my mind whenever I want.
I sat there for an hour listening to music and reading a book. Then, as a Lake Day treat for myself, I ordered yummy take out dinner from a local Indian restaurant. I ended the night finishing up some thrilling homework assignments. Overall, a nice first Lake Day.
Thanks for reading and I’ll include some photos from my week!
