Free snacks

My snack drawer went from being empty to barely being able to close this week. That only means one thing: there were a lot of things happening around campus as Wellesley loves to give out snacks during events.

The major source of snacks was a gift package I got from my family in Bulgaria. They found an online store that was delivering Bulgarian snacks to Boston. I was sooo happy when I got the package because I was missing these comfort foods a lot.

Then there was the Friends and Family weekend on campus. There were a lot of people around (according to our registry, 1400 people registered). I was working during the weekend, helping around campus during the events. Because of this, I got a lot of snacks that were offered to the visitors and the staff.

A pretty view of the Tower complex and Sev hill (and the geese!!!)

Slater, the international students center, also has free snacks. They are not event specific, but I still think they are worth discussing here. Slater is a great study space, so some of my friends and I were studying there during the past week. Tip: if you ever need to cook something on campus, Slater has all sorts of appliances and useful things, as well as a rather big kitchen. My friends and are planning on making apple pie there during the weekend.

In preparation for Halloween, some departments were also giving out cookies and candy. Last week, I was working with some of my Math classmates in the Math department hub in the Science center, and some professors came by to say hi and give us cookies (which were sooo good).

Next week promises a lot of free snacks as well. There are a lot of trick-or-treating events happening around campus for Halloween, so the sugar overload is certain. My friends and I are very excited for Halloween (it’s the first time some of us are dressing up too!), and Munger Mash specifically (a big party on the Friday before Halloween, which is also the same date as my birthday).

I will tell you more about Halloween next week. Now I should really go back to my History reading. Stay safe!
