Fall Views From the Bell Tower :)

Hi Blog!

I hope you’re enjoying these cover photos at the beginning of each of my posts. This is the view I have from one of the top windows in the bell tower. I take pictures almost every time I go up there (I need to make the quantity of stairs worth it), so it’s been really lovely to see the leaves change this fall. Now that it’s daylight savings time, my practice times fall during sunset, so I’ve been taking many gorgeous time-lapses. I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of daylight savings, but it’s always good to find the positives, right?

My life has been very carillon-focused lately when it comes to extracurricular activities. I have my advancement recital this Friday, which means it’ll be my first time playing on the big bells (the bells you can actually hear outside the tower). When I chose this very cool instrument to learn I didn’t exactly consider the fact that my first performances would echo across campus for everyone to hear. I’m a bit nervous, but I think it’ll be good to push myself out of my comfort zone! That being said, I have been practicing in preparation a lot. Wish me luck!

Very important news: course registration is this week! Every Wellesley College student has been perusing the course browser and making infinite potential schedules in Coursicle ever since the Spring courses came out. It is such a shame that we will only be able to take 32 (give or take) courses during our 4 years, because I can find 30 classes I’d want to take just next semester. I will update next week when my courses are confirmed, but for now, please send good vibes and secure wifi connections my way.

I don’t think I’ve talked much about my research lab on this blog yet, so I’ll start now. I started working in a biophysics lab on campus this summer, and I’m continuing during the year. We had a very exciting moment this week when we finally got our code to work. Now have some of the final data we need for the experiment! As my PI says, “science is slow,” so it’s been really impactful to see this project progress for months. I’m actually giving a Tanner presentation next week on my research from the summer!

It’s definitely a busy time with Thanksgiving break coming up soon – thanks for coming along with me, and I’ll see you next week!

Until next time,

Jade <3
