I spent most of Thanksgiving break wearing sweatpants, sleeping a bunch, and eating good food. I had a lovely meal at my cousin’s house (met her three-month-old baby), saw family friends I hadn’t seen since before I went abroad (!), and got to hang out with my brother and his girlfriend (and her dog). We hiked up a big hill near my house where the Boston skyline is visible in the distance. Then I spent all of yesterday holed up in my room, exactly where I wanted to be.
November is almost over, and I’ve been thinking about what I accomplished this month. Here are some things:
- I ran my fastest half marathon, mile, and 10K, and I rowed my fastest 6K on the erg
- Today, I finally finished a four-part Spanish romance novel series I’d been reading on and off since March. There were two different endings, which was annoying. I’m choosing to believe the first one.
- I’ve been working on a draft of a feature article for work! I’m hoping to publish it this week.
- I started fundraising for the Ulman Foundation! This summer, I’m biking from Baltimore to San Francisco with 4k for Cancer, which raises money for Ulman. It’s a nonprofit that supports young adults with cancer by providing a place to stay near hospitals in Baltimore, exercise groups and art workshops, and help with things like finances and fertility planning. Here’s my page for more info: impact.ulmanfoundation.org/macy
- I gave a Tanner presentation! I wrote about that last week.
- I performed stand-up for the first time! It was so much fun. I’m planning another set for my final project in my comedy class.
- I’ve been doing a ton of writing and editing for my travel writing class. I’m working on three pieces this semester, and I want them to be the best they can be. Creative writing classes aren’t graded, but I’ve put more work into that class than graded ones.
December is coming up fast. The warm-ish weather is holding on—so far, it’s rained but hasn’t snowed—so I didn’t grab my winter boots when I left home. Here’s hoping I don’t regret that.
