Back from Thanksgiving!

Hello Blog,

Long time no talk! We’re officially in the home-stretch of the fall semester. These are the last couple full weeks of classes and then comes reading period and finals. It tends to be a very busy time of the semester because classes are wrapping up and finals prep is beginning. But before we get into that, let me tell you about my break!

Thanksgiving break is actually pretty long (5 days) and always comes as a bit of a welcome surprise for me. I like to use it to relax, spend time with family, and reset before the end-of-semester rush hits. I went home, which is only 30 min away, but I spent Thanksgiving in Marblehead, with family friends. Marblehead is actually one of my favorite towns in Massachusetts because it’s on the ocean, but it’s only about an hour drive from Wellesley. Plus, it makes an incredible post-Thanksgiving meal walk location. Sometimes you need to take to the sea, so during the semester my friends and I will drive out and spend a day walking along the beaches and through the town. I have yet to do a polar plunge, but it’s on my bucket list before I graduate.

I have a very musical weekend coming up with two concerts! On Saturday, it’s the Holiday Open Tower for the Guild of Carillonneurs, where we play holiday music for campus in the afternoon. My friend’s arrangement of “All I want for Christmas is you” is very popular across campus. As the events chair, I’ll be decorating the tower in the holiday spirit. But first, I have to take down the Halloween decorations… On Sunday, my performance seminar class is holding a concert at a local church in Wellesley. Our final exam for this class isn’t a traditional test, but instead it’s a “jury” where we perform in front of music faculty. This concert is an opportunity to invite our friends to listen to what we’ve been working on during the semester, but it also gives us an opportunity to prepare for our jury. I’m playing an arrangement of one of my mom’s favorite pieces.

Until next week,
