Hey everyone!
It has been a really eventful and exciting week on campus. On Monday we experienced a partial eclipse, which was really exciting. There was an event at our observatory where they were giving out special glasses to look at the sun. And I’m not exaggerating when I say that there were hundreds of people there, both Wellesley students, faculty and staff, and people from the town of Wellesley. It was honestly such a special experience, and I loved sharing it with so many people.
Here’s a photo of the eclipse from the telescope:
On a different note, today, April 11th, is the Ruhlman Conference on campus, which is a day where classes are canceled and people present the different research that they have done in the past year. And I will be presenting in the afternoon! I’m a little scared, but mostly just excited about it. As a part of SERP (the Sophomore Early Research Program), I have been working with one of my physics professors and some classmates on some quantum physics experiments. And today I get to share that with others!
This conference is a big deal on our campus, and everyone participates in it in some way or another. There are events, lectures, posters, and good food, so the energy of the campus is just really vibrant.
Other random updates from the week:
- I had to change my study abroad plans at the very last minute, so I have to decide where I will be going in the fall in the next few days. Stressful!
- Me and my friends Marta and Evangeline represented Slater at the orgs fair for the admitted students this weekend. Exciting!
- The weather has been GORGEOUS the past few days, which is kind of funny considering that there was snow last week.
So, yeah, that’s it from me. Stay safe!
