Hey bloggies, (this is what I’ve decided I’m calling you now) welcome back to Avery’s super cool, second ever, blog post. I hope y’all had a spectacular June. I know I sure did! If I had describe this month in a song, I’d do so with this one:
With that being said, now I’m gonna share some more memories I’ve made this past month! The catalyst to most of this month’s adventures occurred at the very beginning of June 2024.
With my extrovert battery eagerly awaiting additional social nourishment now that most of my Wellesley friends had retreated back home for the summer, I suddenly found myself on the Wednesday evening commuter rail, inbound towards several strangers I knew concerningly little about. Two hours after boarding, the reggaeton I was listening to through my earbuds while I looked out the blurry commuter rail window was promptly replaced with the marrying of high pitched, college-aged giggles and laughter between 5 new friends and I on the Charles River Esplanade as we watched the sun set over the water.
After 9 straight hours of Newbury Street pizza, river views, tiktoks on swing sets, and lots of photos, my thirst for a new kind of socialization had been quenched. My extrovert battery was satisfied but simultaneously zealous in anticipation for our next hang out. Fortunately, the following weeks contained no shortages of meet ups with my new friends. We proceeded to hang out 3 days in a row the following weekend, and every few days through the rest of June!
In addition to my perpetual Boston adventures, I’ve been revitalizing my knowledge on the critical pedagogy of the higher educational space through an admissions lens, and learning about the higher ed scope as a whole. I can attest the sociologist in me has been very academically satiated thus far. Oh and the Admissions team and I went strawberry picking!
That was a brief overview of some of my favorite memories this June. Thanks for reading. B) I’m going to New York for 4 days this weekend so I’ll make sure to spill all the tea this Thursday!! Have a spectacular week!
