The time has come for me to say goodbye to Wellesley and the Admission Office, at least for the semester. I will be closing out August back home in New York, and come September, I will be in Greece! As excited as I am to go abroad, I need to wrap up everything at Wellesley (aka start and finish packing), and I’m still trying to have some fun before I leave. I was reunited with the dinosaur I painted during our staff bonding trip to paint pottery. I named her Dragosaur and I’m so excited to use her as a ring holder!
Campus has been pretty quiet since the summer research students moved out, but it’s starting to feel alive again now that the fall early arrival students have moved in and some of my friends are back on campus. Instead of packing last night, I decided to go roller skating with my friend. She was very good at roller skating and had her own pair of skates, but there was definitely more of a learning curve for me.
We went during adult night, and it was nice that we weren’t running over little kids, but everyone there was an expert roller skater. They had a beginner rink that I practiced on for a little while before moving on to the big girl rink. I haven’t roller skated in like 10 years so my expectations for myself weren’t that high, and I think I really got the hang of it after a while. My total fall count was 4, which I feel like is a respectable number, but there are definitely going to be some lingering bruises. Right as we were leaving, I had to fall one last time, and I fell directly on to my arm. According to health services, my arm is now sprained and my bone is probably bruised, but I’m being super brave about it. Despite my injuries, I would definitely do it again (but maybe I would wear protective gear next time).
I still have to finish the rest of my packing one handed, thankfully my mom and my sister were able to help me move most of my stuff to a storage unit a few weeks ago. It feels very weird to see people start preparing for the fall semester knowing that I won’t be at Wellesley, but I’m super excited to share my Greek adventures with everyone. Nevertheless, I will miss blogging into the ether…
