Hello, all!
This week, I start pre-season for cross country. I can’t believe I’m about to be a junior because I feel like I was picking up my key from my first year move-in roughly two weeks ago. This weekend, different sports teams like soccer, volleyball, and field hockey have begun arriving, along with members of residential life. It’s nice to see campus get busier since it’s been so calm the last few weeks. Bates dining hall also opened which was exciting because it has gelato and (in my opinion) the best pizza on campus.
On Monday, I had my last full day of work as an admission summer intern. It was bittersweet because summer is ending. Being an admissions summer intern has been such an educational experience, and I’m going to miss the other ASIs in the fall. I’ve done a lot of public speaking and meeting new people in this job, and I feel like I have grown as a person.
Tuesday began preseason fully, and my team headed to Holliston Rail Trail to do our first run of the season. It was nice to be back with the teammates I hadn’t seen over the summer and meet the first years. After running, we did our annual team trip to Target, and I got a white board and ice trays. I’m almost done decorating my room for the fall!
This Wednesday, we headed to Nantasket Beach on the coast of Massachusetts. It’s a team tradition, and one of my favorite days. I ran about seven miles on the beach, then got to wade in. I was mildly covered in sand, so it was nice to rinse off. The water was pretty cold, with lots of sea plants. We then went to one of my teammates’ houses for lunch, and had awesome burrito bowls. After heading back to Wellesley, we had our first team meeting and lift of the year.
Friday began with our time trial, and we also got to watch some field hockey. I’m excited for the rest of preseason and the first race of the season, which is at Wellesley next Friday.
I’ve had such a great summer, and I’m glad I’ve gotten to share it with y’all.
Bye for now,
Elise
