Fall Break Recap

The time has finally come…for my Fall Break recap! For anyone curious what my trip to the Cape looked like, keep on reading!

One of the big highlights was trying lobster for the first time at a local clam shack. I had always heard how amazing Cape Cod seafood is, so I figured it was time to give it a try. I ordered a steamed lobster, which was a little intimidating at first, but once I got the hang of it, it was totally worth it. The lobster was delicious – tender, buttery, and just as good as everyone says. The whole experience felt super Cape Cod-y, with the harbor right there and the laid-back atmosphere.

Yum!

I also stayed active during the trip and went for a run on the Cape Cod Rail Trail. It’s a really nice trail that runs through the Cape, and in the fall, it’s especially beautiful. The leaves were turning, the air was cool, and it was the perfect setting for one of my longer runs. Since I’m training for a half marathon, it was great to get some miles in while soaking up the fall scenery.

Time for a run!

Of course, my friends and I had to check out the beach while we were there. We spent one afternoon walking along the shoreline, and even though it was freezing, it was still amazing to see all of the sailboats go by. There were hardly any people around, and the sound of the waves was super calming. It was nice to slow down, take in the view, and just enjoy some quiet time by the ocean.

I also did some shopping in downtown Hyannis, which has a ton of cute shops and cafés. We checked out some boutiques and all of the beautiful jewelry that was made locally.  The town has a really fun vibe, and it was nice to just stroll around and see what I could find. Later in the weekend we even went to a local seaside festival that was full of local vendors selling crafts, baked goods, home decor, jewelry and so much more.

Several decorations made out of sea glass.

Overall, my fall break on Cape Cod was just what I needed. Between trying lobster, getting some good runs in, and relaxing in the quiet town, I left feeling refreshed and ready to take on the rest of the semester.

Until next week,

Anna Tutek
