Hey everyone!
It’s midterms season (nay!!), so my life right now revolves around studying, revising, office hours, and more studying. That’s why I decided to do a day-in-the-life this week—for you to get a feeling of what life is like around here right before the midterms start coming in.
I woke up this (Wednesday) morning around 7:50 am for my 8:30 am class. It took me an unfortunate amount of time to get out of bed, which is why I had about five minutes to get dressed before I had to go out of the door. I made it to the Science Center around 8:27 am, which left me with enough time to get my favorite vitamin water from the Leakey Beaker, the coffee/mini store in the building. I got into my math classroom at exactly 8:29 am. We discussed some fun facts about prime numbers and revised for our quiz tomorrow.

It’s still snowy outside
That class ended at 9:20 am (classes here are shorter on Wednesdays), and I headed to the Jewett Building for my music class. I made it there on time at 9:28 am. My professor returned our tests back (he was actually really fast with grading these), and I am happy to report that I am happy with how I did. We were talking about different modes (new types of musical scales) the whole class. My professor always plays very unexpected songs for us to showcase the concepts that we are learning in practice, and I have begun making a playlist out of them. Here’s the last few songs I added to that playlist:
I then went to the Lulu Center to get a package that got delivered there and to grab a banana from the dining hall. After that, I brought that package to my room and talked to my parents for a while. Around 1 pm I headed to the Bates dining hall to grab lunch with one of my friends. We talked for a while and got our weekly cup of tea together.
Right after that, I headed back to the Science Center for my physics office hours. I spent around an hour and a half there working on my project proposal (I will be telling you more about that in the future, I promise!). The highlight of that time was when one of the breadboards started smoking after the people working on it plugged a device wrong and too much current was flowing through it. There was no actual fire, just some smoke, so everyone was okay. Ultimately, it was all okay though because, as our professor says, you are not a real scientist unless you have broken at least 10,000 USD worth of equipment!
I headed out to my next physics class at 3:30 pm. We talked about some thermodynamic potentials and about the logistics of our midterm that’s coming up on Friday. After class, I sat down with a classmate to work through some practice problems for about an hour. After that, I went to the Stone-Davis dining hall to have dinner with the people from one of my orgs. We talked for a while, and after that I headed up to my friend’s room to hang out and do homework with her (which is where I am writing that from). I will be heading out to my room in Munger soon, and I hope to be in bed by 11 pm.
So, yeah, that has been my Wednesday. See you again next week!
