Hello Blog!! This week, I will be ranking all of the concerts I’ve been to in Boston 🎵One thing that you should know about me is that I’m a big concert person. I love love love live music! My biggest flex is how many big names I’ve seen live: Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar and SZA, Ariana Grande, and soon, Lorde, The Strokes, Sabrina Carpenter, and Doechii 😛Getting into Boston from Wellesley to see concerts is pretty easy! You can take the commuter rail, which drops you off really close to Roadrunner (a concert venue in Boston), or you can take the shuttle that puts you within walking distance from lots of concert venues. Either way, the majority of the concert venues in Boston are clustered together, so whichever way you choose will work! Going to concerts in Boston has been another growing experience because I’ve been to all of them alone. A lot of people can be intimidated by going to concerts alone since it’s such a social experience, but it’s been one way that I’ve learned how to enjoy my own company 💖 So without further ado…here is my ranking of the concerts I’ve been to in Boston!
#5) Omar Apollo
Opener: Todd Malcom
I saw Omar Apollo in September 2024 at the Leader Bank Pavilion in Seaport. I put this at #5 because he performed more of his new music, and I am more of an Ivory and Alpolonio fan. I did go crazy when he played 3 Boys, which is my favorite song by him. The highlight of the concert was when someone in the front row told him that her boyfriend broke up with her because he got mad at her for going to that concert because Omar was gay. He took her phone, called her ex-boyfriend, and left him a voicemail dissing him about being homophobic.
#4) Gracie Abrams
Opener: Tiny Habits
I saw Gracie Abrams in March 2023 at the House of Blues in Fenway. I absolutely adored the opener. I had never heard of Tiny Habits before, but their voices blended together were so soothing. This was the first time that I went to a concert and enjoyed the opener. Hearing Gracie live gave me a lot of nostalgia since I started listening to her music during COVID. This was a special show for her since she has a lot of family that lives in the Boston area. The highlight of the concert was someone in the front row giving her a pride flag that everyone waiting in line signed (including me!)
#3) Suki Waterhouse
Opener: Bully
Going to see Suki Waterhouse in December 2024 at Roadrunner was quite the experience. My ticket to Suki Waterhouse was surprisingly cheap—just $50! I stood in line for 4 hours 🫠 (which is the most I’ve ever stood in line for a concert). It was freezing cold and the wind chill was ruthless. It was so worth it though because I was in the front row!! I had never been to the front row for a concert before, and it was a life changing experience. She has such an ethereal presence. I have never sung louder or danced harder in my life. Hearing “Big Love” and “Good Looking” live made my entire semester. The highlight of this concert was Suki smiling and pointing at me 🥹
#2) Clairo
Opener: Alice Phoebe Lou
Seeing Clairo in October 2024 at Roadrunner was so cathartic. I cried when she played “Flaming Hot Cheetos.” Clairo was one of the artists that got me through high school. The whole night was so surreal. It was one of those concerts where I felt sucked into my own private bubble, like it was just me and Clairo in the room together. Even though there were a lot of people around, it felt very intimate for me. The opener, Alice Phoebe Lou, was also the best opener I’ve ever experienced for an artist. She matches Clairo’s vibe so well. The highlight of this concert was learning that Clairo’s favorite animal is a hyrax.
Now for my favorite concert I’ve ever seen in Boston….drumroll please… 🥁
#1) Maggie Rogers
Opener: Del Water Gap
Miss Maggie Rogers!! I saw Maggie in February 2023 at Roadrunner. It was my first time going to a concert in Boston, and it was the best first concert in Boston I could have ever had. You can tell that she has such a deep love for performing live. Her setlist was the longest of any artist I’ve seen play in one of the smaller venues in Boston—over 2 hours! She had such a high, authentic energy that was extremely contagious. What made the concert even better was that she is really close friends with the opener—Del Water Gap. She brought him out so that they could play a song together. The visuals for this concert were also off the charts for a concert at Roadrunner. The concerts I’ve been to at Roadrunner typically have highly decorated sets, but Maggie really brought it with the visuals. The highlight of this concert was hearing “Shatter” live. That song was one of the best ones I have ever heard live because of the sheer rage she poured into that performance.
That’s all for me for now! Thank you for tuning into my blog this week 😊Until next time ✨
Warmly,
