Two highlights of the week: an amazing ZA lecture with amazing author Jamal Joseph, who is also known from being a director, producer, poet, activist, educator, and most famously for previously being part of the Black Panther Party. He came to our house to talk about his new book, Panther Baby, which touches on his time when he was a Black Panther. His talk was so enlightening, invigorating, and exciting. He was an amazing speaker, as he read some parts from his book, retold his stories of his times in prison, a few of his experiences when he first joined, and his reflections on how far he has come from his time there. Here’s a picture of Jamal Joseph at the lecture:
The talk was especially enlightening because I knew very little about the the Black Power movement. Thins like this is what I especially love Wellesley–being exposed to new experiences and passions. I actually spent about 3-4 hours reading about the movement after the lecture instead of working on my CS midterm, hehe.
Other exciting things this past weekend is celebrating Justin’s 20th birthday. We went to Uni, a fabulous contemporary sushi restaurant that’s also named one of the 50 best restaurants in Boston) and got to access the special Restaurant Week menu! We caught it on the very last day. The food was amazing. We had such a great time, here’s a picture of us on Friday night:
On Saturday night, I went out with ZA to a mixer with the Fox at Harvard. The theme was pretty fun–bright and tight. Amusingly enough, the guys got more into the theme than we did. Here’s some pictures from the night:
Overall, a fabulous week, but what I’m really excited about is our SISTERHOOD RETREAT TO CAPE COD NEXT WEEKEND! Until then, my dears!
