Congrats WC Class of 2015!!

It's that time of year….decision letters are in the mail if you haven't received yours yet! CONGRATS to everyone who has been accepted to the Wellesley Class of 2015!!

The weather gods played a horrible April Fool's joke on Wellesley today; when I woke up snow covered the ground. Not funny. Last year today I was sweating in shorts and a tank top and laying out in the Tower courtyard with friends. WHAT IS GOING ON?? Luckily, I'm running away this weekend to Durham, NC (it's not even that warm down there, either) to visit Rory at Duke. Goodbye snow!

Now I miss my (85˚and sunny) lazy afternoons reading on the white sand beaches of Clearwater, FL during Spring Break. Take me baaaack!! My friends and I had a fabulous time. We slept a ton, ate healthy foods, trained for the marathon together in the mornings, and obviously worked really hard on our tans :)

Since I've been back at Wellesley, I have successfully procrastinated all week and pretended that I'm still on break. However, I do have a few accomplishments of the week: I ran 18 miles on Wednesday. It was my longest run ever!! My soccer team big sister/good friend/marathon buddy, Jennie, told me that 18 is the maximum I need to run before the Boston Marathon, since adrenaline will carry me through the final 8 miles!! Wow. The Wellesley Scream Tunnel better keep my adrenaline spiked from mile 13 to 26.

Also, I forgot to mention that I was accepted into the Wellesley-in-Aix study abroad program in Aix-en-Provence, France!! I will be in Paris for three weeks, then in Aix for 4 months next Fall. I AM SO EXCITED. Besides the wonderful group from Wellesley (I love the girls going with me), there are students from Columbia, Barnard, Princeton, Yale, Wesleyan, Colby, and Haverford going with us. I'm eager to meet the visiting students. I also have to decide between living in an apartment or a homestay next Fall. Ah! I have to choose by Monday!!

I can't believe I also forgot to write about my exciting summer plans: I will be in Beijing this summer with a marketing internship for WildChina, a fantastic, sustainable travel company that sends out amazing and "ecologically sensitive" journeys all around China. Since I will be working in their corporate offices, I will need to find an apartment in Beijing within the next two months! Eek! I have traveled to Beijing before, but this will certainly be an experience of a lifetime. I'm going to be all alone, but I'm really looking forward to stepping outside of my comfort zone.

Recently I explored What Wellesley's Reading, a podcast series on iTunes that anyone can access for free. The podcasts feature Wellesley faculty reading a piece of a book in their field that they are passionate about. I listened to Professor Thomas Hodge of the Russian Department read an excerpt from Tolstoy's War and Peace. I recommend you listen to a few! One of my professors, Stacie Goddard, has a podcast up. She reads John Keegan's The Face of Battle. Very intriguing.

I hope you have a great weekend. Next week I will be working at the Wednesday morning Wellesley Chats online from 9am-11am (EST). If you have a free moment, sign on and talk to me! I would love to meet you!

xoxo
