Hi, guys!
Fall Break just finished, and let me tell you, it was quite relaxing. Stone-D’s dining hall was closed so I decided to treat myself and order California Pizza Kitchen – I think that freshman fifteen is coming along quite nicely. The Thai Crunch salad and Tequila Fettuccine pasta is the best, in my opinion, and I could eat it for actually every meal.
I don’t know about you, but when I have a break more than two days (like a weekend!), my brain officially takes a vacation. It’s a pretty bad habit because then I have to “catch up” on all my work… but all my profs were also very excited about the break so they didn’t assign too much, thankfully. I only have a draft essay due tomorrow, as well as a completed paper due on Friday. And I’ve already done the prep for both of them, so my homework is basically a piece of cake! Even my shift at work, although busy, was pretty relaxing. It was a good way to get back into the swing of things; I listened to the Wicked deluxe album the entire time. I think it’s becoming my study playlist, which is kind of weird. The Interlibrary Loan Office – where I work – is so great! Everyone that works there is super nice, and once you learn the basics, you can work independently. For anyone that’s super detail-oriented and loves libraries, the ILL office is a superb place to earn some money.
Speaking of places to work, I’m going to see some kittens at a shelter this week! I volunteer at the Off the Rocks shelter so I don’t get paid in money… but I do get paid in kitten snuggles, which is almost better in a way. It’s a great way to relax. It’s also a place where, once you learn the basics, you can work independently! I want to adopt one as a support animal, but I’m not sure if my parents would approve because we have dogs. My mom sent me a picture of my dog in his Halloween costume, and I realized how much I miss him. So maybe I won’t adopt a cat, maybe I’ll just sneak my dog into my dorm.
It’s so strange to realize that I’ve been away from home for a month and a half already. I feel like I’ve been here for a year! That’s Wellesley for you: not only does a week feel like a month, but everyone here makes you feel so welcomed that you don’t even feel like a freshman. I feel ready to go out into the world and start making a difference, but maybe I won’t have to leave campus to do that. I’m trying to start a computer science project that compiles news articles that pertain to election topics for young adults like me who want to be an informed voter. Wish me luck to find a mentor to guide me through that!
Anyway, that’s basically a synopsis of my week and upcoming plans without going into too much detail. Talk to you next week!
