Hi all! My name is Mara (she/they), and I’m an international student from Paraguay, in South America, aka your local Latina friend ;). I’m part of the purple class (’26), and I’m also a prospective neuroscience major—so very excited to talk about science at Wellesley and what not!
Before Wellesley, I had never been to the United States before, so everything that I have been experiencing is very new to me. Some things about me 🙂
- I was born and raised in Paraguay, but I also lived in Argentina for two years, as I’m half Argentine and Paraguayan.
- My favorite season is spring <3 because I love flowers!!!!!! Especially at Wellesley because our campus just turns very colorful!
- On campus, I am involved with research in the psychology department. I did the First-Year Apprentice Program, and I applied for the Sophomore Early Research Program.
- I also partake in Alianza, a student organization for Latinx students!
- I like to collect rocks, so I joined the Wellesley rock collecting club 🙂
- One of my fav dining halls is Lulu because of a specific worker, Rosita. She’s from Puerto Rico, and seeing her at Lulu always makes me smile.
- I’m friends with almost all Latinx people on campus, including janitors :)))) So, if you want to know about a specific person from Latam, I most likely know them.
- I used to have snails as pets LOL
