It’s finally here: my penultimate final exam period. I’m feeling good about it. Bring it on, Wellesley!
It might seem rather contrarian, but I actually love the week of reading period/exams. I find it very relaxing to hole up somewhere with a study guide and some tea. My favorite is studying with a few friends in a location I rarely seek out. I read once that changing up the location where you study can help you remember things better. Yesterday, I spent the afternoon with a teammate in the art library reviewing for my Babson class. It was mostly productive. Every once in a while we’d start to giggle about something and get off topic, but that’s all part of the process;)
On Saturday night, my dorm friends and I had a Secret Santa Christmas/Hanukkah party. One of my friends gifted another friend a rug. The rug seemed so out of place next to the other presents that no one actually noticed it at first!
The friend who received the rug was very very excited. She’s been looking for a rug for her dorm room all semester. (I think sometime last year, as juniors, we all got very into decorating our rooms. Rugs and tapestries are a hot commodity. It’s pretty adorable.)
Sunday morning we all got together again for brunch in the basement kitchen. And we said our goodbyes to a few friends who are already heading home. The rest of us diligently studied between rounds of cinnamon buns and great coffee. I love this time of year at Wellesley.
I’ve been thinking lately about all the time I’ve spent with these people who are now my dearest friends. We’ve grown and changed together. We are matured in many ways (but still a ridiculous bunch of goofballs, let’s be honest). My first-ever Wellesley friends are now applying to grad school, thesising, entering serious relationships, and making other decisions that we couldn’t have dreamed of making four years ago.
And I know that even after I leave this place, I will have strong relationships–that continue to grow and change–with these curious, vivacious women who have changed my life. How cool is that?!
