Oh my goodness, I registered for Spring Semester today. Let me tell you, THAT is not something I’d like to do more than twice a year!
First of all, its a very timely process. I had to wake up before 8 o’clock this morning (not something I make a habit of doing). Then I had to log onto My Wellesley and wait until exactly 8am. THEN I had to type in the numbers for all my classes and hit enter as fast as possible!!!!! The whole process takes less than three minutes. It is quite the adrenaline rush. And I got all but one of the classes I wanted:) So yay. It was a good, if terribly stressful, morning.
(It’s really not that stressful, we all just like to make a big deal about it lol.)
With Thanksgiving break at hand and the end of the semester approaching, I have so much work to do! I have final papers for three of my classes and an oral test in Chinese. It feels never ending! But I have learned something really important here at Wellesley these first few months: I can do it.
When I got here, I was intimidated by everything. “Everyone is so smart here! They’re so capable and well spoken! They can write amazing papers in one night. They can succeed at everything they do AND go out on the weekends,” I exclaimed.
And then I realized: I can do that too:) And it was a wonderful feeling. Wellesley has already taught me so much about achieving my goals.
Sometimes, as my Cross Country coach likes to say, “You have to be comfortable feeling uncomfortable.” I know that doesn’t sound like a very nice thing to say, but think about it. Tell me you haven’t had moments where you doubted yourself. You thought, “I can’t do this. It’s too difficult. I simply do not have the capability to perform this task.” And then maybe you shed a dramatic tear. (I know I do.)
You have to overcome that doubt in order to succeed. You have to force yourself to be comfortable feeling uncomfortable. And when you look back and say “wow, I did that,” isn’t it the best feeling in the entire world?
That’s what Wellesley will do for you.
