It’s hard to believe that this will be my last fall at Wellesley. And perhaps because I am feeling the pressure to appreciate every last opportunity while I’m here, I am heading into the semester with big plans!

I am finally taking the creative writing course that I’ve been telling myself to make time for since first year. It is a poetry course and I am so looking forward to getting back in touch with my creative side. This summer, in Beijing, while writing for City Weekend I realized just how entrenched in the academic style my writing voice has become. The editors kept telling me to lighten up and throw some jokes in there. But its harder than you think to switch styles after so much practice.

I am also hoping to take a golf PE course. Another thing I have been saying I need to do all along but never quite found the time for. Now I am prioritizing! I have always wanted to have some basic golf skills so that I can take the time to learn more in the future. So I am very excited:) Hopefully I am able to get into the class on registration day, which isn’t until the first Thursday of classes.
I have also finally made the trip to the Wellesley Free Library in The Vil and signed up for a library card. I am hoping to give myself more time for pleasure reading, as it is one of my greatest joys, and nothing makes me happier than curling up in a cozy academic nook and enjoying someone else’s words. I have checked out The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, which I am extremely excited to begin!
Other than that, I have made myself a promise to take in small moments and enjoy them. I often find myself rushing around once the semester has begun and I want to commit this year to memory, not breeze through it like a 12-point-font spewing machine. This means spending more time doing “nothing” with friends and appreciating the beauty of Wellesley’s nature and architecture.
So welcome final year, I am ready! I have new goals, great friends, and endless enthusiasm for whatever will come my way!
