Highlights

Hi Everyone!

It’s been a very eventful week, I’m not really sure where to begin!

I guess I’ll start with my favorite activity–climbing. (: Katie, my new climbing partner (and friend!), and myself went climbing on Wednesday evening. We decided to challenge ourselves and were surprised with the results: we can climb 5.10a grade routes! To put this in perspective, we’d mostly been climbing at a difficulty of 5.8-5.9 the past few weeks and were too afraid of 5.10’s. (I guess we saw them as these looming, insanely-difficult climbs and were thus too afraid to try them.) But! We sucked it up and were surprised. Here’s a photo of Katie’s hand at the end of the night:

Here are also some photos of us eating dinner afterwards. (At Kaju Tofu in Harvard Square.) We were about to fall asleep at the table from exhaustion. But you can’t really tell from the smiles plastered on our faces because our food just came.

Also, this is an older photo, from the Tuesday of Thanksgiving week (or maybe even earlier; I honestly don’t remember anymore. Katie and I have had too many late-night, post-climbing hungerfest adventures.) I just really like this photo. We were at Pad Thai Cafe on Boylston near Berklee.

Now before I met up with Katie and MetroRock, I’d been at a networking event at State Street. My good friend and fellow finance-aspirer Caitlin was there, too. I’m sad I don’t have a photo from that night because we were both dressed up. But you can see what we look like (sort of) in one of my earlier posts, Wall Street Warm Up. At least, you can see Caitlin’s back. Haha.

Anyway, the event was tiring but helpful. This morning I heard back from two of the people I spoke with and have interviews lined up. Woohoo! Also, on an unrelated note, I heard back from Morgan Stanley earlier this week too and I made it to first round phone interviews! An alum will be calling me on Wednesday. I’m super nervous!

Anyway, another eventful event this week was my last Negotiation class last night. I can’t believe it’s over! πŸ™ That was my absolute favorite class of all time. I’m going to really try to stay in touch with my professor. I have his address from a class BBQ he hosted earlier in the semester. That’s not weird, is it? I’ll just be maybe sending him a thank you note in the mail. Nothing creepy. Maybe occasional updates throughout my life. Maybe visiting him once I’m successfully working on Wall Street. I also know his wife’s name and that he has two kids. Nothing creepy.

Here’s a photo of me with him and Emma, our class TA. I love her, too. (: Hope to stay in touch.

Oh and guess what? At the end of class, he gave a short talk on “what to do going forward” in terms of how all of us can keep improving our negotiation skills. He suggested keeping a journal. Well guess who already does that?? πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ Woop woop! Been ahead of the game since I was 10. I was a kick butt fifth grader.

And now I’m off to Boston again to…guess what? Yup. Climb. Hopefully neither Katie’s nor my hands rip open today. Although if they do we wouldn’t mind too much.

We’d just keep climbing.
