Hello~!
This past week has been crazy. Somehow I manage to be busier during summer, when I don’t have any classes or exams or papers, than during the school year.
Work is awesome! I love State Street and my little cubicle and having to dress up business formal every day. I also love trying all the coffee flavors in the break room. Currently my favorite is Hazelnut Creme, although the Cozy Chamomile tea is a close second.
I am amazed at all that goes on within a financial corporation! I can’t tell you about any of it though because of legal ethics and compliance. We (meaning the interns; on orientation day) were told all about how we could be thrown in jail and wave our careers in finance goodbye if we accidentally let slip some highly confidential information. It’s really cool though! I can promise you that much. I am having the finance education of my life.
Anyway! Plenty else has been going on this past week. Acro yoga being one of the main ones! But also spoken word/poetry slam/open mic night at the Cantab lounge, which is (awesomely) only two blocks from the frat house! Woohoo! I love city living. Everything is SO CONVENIENT.
Here’s a picture from that night. It’s every Wednesday at 8pm. (:
Oh! And I went rock climbing with my friend Ant after work last Monday. π It was exhausting! But so fun. I was just surprised at how tiring being at work for a full day can make you. π It takes you by surprise!
By the way, here’s where I work! It’s the middle building with the big “State Street” on it. π
And here are some acro yoga pictures! Doesn’t it look super cool?? Don’t you want to try it?? Well, come to the Boston Public Gardens every Sunday at 2pm if you do. π (Or the Cambridge Public Library every Friday at 5pm.)
Oh and last Friday we went to one of the women’s relative’s house and did acro in their pool! And got dinner together afterward. π
Oh and this is completely unrelated but there’s a TYPEWRITER in the frat!! It belongs to one of the brothers. It’s so super cool! I wrote a letter to my friend on it. π More like banged out a letter. But omg it was so fun!
Also unrelated – I bought Cashew butter! From a super fancy but also small, cute and boutique place in Berkeley. When I found it on Amazon and saw that it was based out of Berkeley I knew I had to buy it. π I also realize that I have become a yuppy. I just recently learned what that was! It stands for Young Urban Professional (Y.U.P.) and places like Flour and Clover and Life Alive are yuppy restaurants. Yup. Haha. (Essentially, they’re more expensive, and tend to emphasize healthy, organic, anti-processed, alternative – and of course expensive – food options. Perfect for the young, trendy urban professional. Sigh. I never thought I’d be so mainstream. But the funny thing is, I think all yuppies think they’re being NON-mainstream. Which is funny.)
Also currently in love with Oh Wonder. Well, I discovered them a while back, but I just rediscovered some not-new songs of theirs. Midnight Moon. Livewire. White Blood. My favorite before these was Lose It and Technicolour Beat. They are a wonderful band.
Anyway! Here’s the picture of the Cashew Butter I was getting to:
And one final picture! I went to get dim sum with Monica – ONE OF THE OTHER BLOGGERS – on Sunday! π With my friend Gen (a fellow Wellesley student AND someone who went to the same high school as me!!!) and Monica’s friend Justin. Justin and Gen later accompanied me to acro and fell in love with it just like I did a few weeks ago!
Anyway – that’s all! Until next week. π
