Sophomore Year Is Over.

Hello~!

Sophomore year is over. I can hardly believe it, but it also seems like it was a long time coming. I feel like I changed a lot this year, but also as if nothing has changed at all…

This past weekend was great! Yesterday, I went to the Boston Public Gardens with my friend Emele (pronounced eh-MELL-ay) to do acro yoga. People just come from all over Boston to jam; it’s not a formal class or anything! Which is just the kind of community for me. A bunch of likeminded strangers with similar interests who enjoy meeting people and sharing their knowledge. Perfect.

It was so much fun, too! I’m also sore because acro is surprisingly (or maybe not so surprisingly) difficult and a good workout. Here’s Emele doing reverse star! (He’s a junior at MIT by the way. We met on the white water rafting trip I organized a few weeks back!)

Also – that’s a woman basing him, because acro is amazingly very bone-stacking oriented, meaning size and strength don’t factor too much into whether someone should fly (what Emele is doing) or base (what the woman is doing)!

We also biked there! Well, I biked. Emele skateboarded. It was my first time biking in a city! I was terrified and also Emele didn’t have a helmet for me (but he had four bikes – who needs four bikes when you’re a student and living in the city?). Anyway, I lived. And it was actually so fun! It was a beautiful day and biking kept the breeze up so I didn’t feel hot, and I got to see a lot of Boston in a very short time! And Boston is SO pretty. So pretty. I can’t wait until I’m living in the city this summer and get to enjoy these views every day! Yesterday also convinced me I need to get a bike for the summer. It’s just such a convenient way to get around (especially when the weather’s nice!) and it’s cheap.

Here’s a picture of me biking! Emele took it while he was skateboarding. Tsk tsk.

(I look so tiny!)

We stayed at the BPG for two hours and met tons of really cool (and nice!) people. I am very much looking forward to doing this every Sunday this summer.

And then Emele went with me to meet my friends Kelly and Caitlin at City Table, a restaurant on Boylston Street. He didn’t want to join us for dinner though, because he felt all gross and sweaty after acro. (But so did I! And I still went to dinner. It was a fancy place too – oops.) So he was a boss and skateboarded back while pushing his bike. How does one even do that? I have no idea.

Here’s what we had a City Table! Very, very delicious salad by the way, ten out of ten would recommend. Those are pickled watermelon slices! Sounds weird, tastes delicious.

This was Caitlin’s salmon and risotto:

This was my and Kelly’s duck (we split):

Yum yum!

And then we went to a concert for The Kooks with our friend Virginia at the House of Blues!

I was a little sleepy so I was leaning on Caitlin. Kelly took a picture of us.

And that’s it! Here are some pretty pictures of Wellesley and Boston to wrap up.

Here’s the facebook group for Boston Acro if you’re interested: (Highly recommend visiting the page, just to check out the photos!) https://www.facebook.com/groups/385663384785081/

I also started up my personal blog again (the one I originally created for my solo trip to Thailand). I wrote a few posts last week, so if you’re curious to see what I was feeling during my last week of classes sophomore year, check it out: http://freesolotraveler.blogspot.com/

Until next week, everyone!
