Amid the Midterm Stresses, Fun Remains

Hello!

Mary Lambert, the beautiful voice behind “She Keeps Me Warm” and Macklemore’s “Same Love,” gave an intimate concert to a few hundred Wellesley students last Friday.

This past week has been, in short, awesome. From meeting Mary Lambert last Friday, studying all weekend for my American Politics midterm, to rewarding myself by attending lectures – these past few days have been great.

Though most people would think that studying for 14 contiguous hours for three days is miserable, the breath of study materials as well as study tactics constantly kept me on my feet and ready to move forward. I’m very strategic when studying, you see, and love listening to everything from Buddhist meditation chants to upbeat mashups to Philip Glass’ beautiful piano stylings. I also keep myself focused by utilizing apps like FocusBooster and YouTube videos to complement my studies.

As a result, I was quite in a bit of a “TREAT YO’SELF” mood after studying day and night for a week, so this happened:

Chatting with Malala Joya, a former Afghani politician and world-renowned activist. She was dubbed the “bravest woman in Afghanistan” by the BBC, and she also happened to be giving a talk this past Tuesday.

Carolyn Miles, CEO of Save the Children, gave this year’s Wilson Lecture this past Tuesday. It was so good. So quality.

Dessert Festival at Tower! A night filled with delicious baked goods and my favorite – apple cider!!

More yummy yums from Tower’s Dessert Festival!

Well, that was a small “taste” of my week.  I hope you also had a fabulous week. Hopefully I’ll meet you at Fall Open Campus! 🙂
Your first Wellesley sibling,

Estefania
