Peking Duck, Madeline Albright, & Looking Back at my First Year

I’ve been back for almost a week now here at Wellesley, and I must say, am I glad to be back! I got back a little early to settle back into my room. Justin also came to spend the weekend, and we had a wonderful time living off of takeout and watching endless videos on YouTube. I also saw my first snowfall of the year and was welcomed back to campus with no other than the legendary Lemon Thai man who delivered our regular favorite dishes from the local Thai restaurant down the street from Wellesley. You can always count on the Lemon Thai man to deliver in rain, sleet, or in this case, snow. He’s great.

Anyways, back to the week. Right now, I’m looking into applying to be a First-Year Mentor, who helps to transition incoming first-years during their first weeks and year on campus. Looking back, I realize why I love blogging so much here. It allows me to do one of my favorite things: share with the world all the many reasons that I love Wellesley College. And I realize that being a First-Year Mentor would let me talk even more about my love for Wellesley but also allow me to personally show everyone why.

Looking back at being a first-year here last year, I really am amazed just at how incredible all the women at Wellesley here are. Everyone—my FYM, RA, Wellesley Big Sister/ House President (I was really really lucky)—all played an enormous part in making my transition to Wellesley very smooth. Because of them, I felt right at home. After seeing the impact that they all had on making my year at Wellesley amazing, I now want to be able to somehow pass on the help and care that I was so lucky to have my first year here.

Anyway, I’ll tell all you guys about my first day back on campus, but for now, here’s a picture of all the aaaamaaaaazinggggggg food I had in Chinatown with my brother and friends to celebrate Chinese New Year!

SO MUCH GOOD FOOD

Oh, and no big deal, but Madeline Albright was also here this past week to give a talk on global affairs. She called China our “frenemy.” Needless to say, former Secretary of State and (achem) Wellesley alumna, Madeline Albright is amazing.

Here is photo of her taken from my seat in the balcony.
