Oh, registration!! So history classes have never filled up so quickly before (well, least not in my 4 times registering for classes so far)! Before I could even register on Wednesday, a history class on American capitalism already filled up with juniors and seniors! But right now I’m enrolled in history of Japan from the 1890s onward, so it’s going to cover all of the 20th century, which I’m so excited about because as of last week, I’ve decide my major focus will be…the 20th century!
I will also be taking CS111, which is the entry class for CS majors and minors, so I’m going to be out to the real test to see if I can actually handle CS. In addition, I will be finishing up Chinese with 102, and new this semester: my first ever college math class–Math 101. Now, at Wellesley, there’s a graduation requirement to take a class that fulfills the Quantitative Reasoning requirement, which pretty much is any class that heavily incorporates statistics. So thus, I’m taking Math 101 just for that very reason!
So we’ve just embarked on the new and final project for my CS class–I’m creating a mobile app extension for the Tanner Conference/ Tandora, called Tanner Connect that will be like the TED talks for Wellesley’s Tanner Conference, except with a social twist. It aims to connect users with their friends and see what they recommend you to attend. It allows you to send, view, and save the talks and see who’s attending what. Hopefully, we’ll get this going. So far, my partner, Sonali, and I have just created a basic user interface…I’ll keep you guys updated.
So other news for the week: Thursday, I went to help my friend Daniella on her impromptu photoshoot for her photo class. Erin got dressed up in this fancy dress, and we went to Alumnae Hall to do the photoshoot. It’s these little spontaneous things that make me love Wellesley! Also, this past Friday was ZA’s semiformal, where we celebrated ZA’s 135th birthday!! I had such a blast at semi, even though Justin couldn’t come. We danced the night away, it was so much fun!
The next day, Justin came over, and we went out with Erin and her boyfriend, Andrew, who was visiting from Penn, to go eat Korean BBQ in Allston on Harvard Ave, the street where a lot of Asian restaurants are. IT WAS SO GOOD. I haven’t had Korean BBQ in so long, and it was well worth the wait. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten so much in my life! On Sunday, I volunteered for MMJJ again, and this month’s activity was Chinese painting! Professor Lu spent some time to teach us the methodology, and here’s the end result…(I’m actually quite proud!!)
Monday–the long awaited concert of Ellie Goulding!!! She was well worth the wait, as well. Emma and I waited for a good hour before she even performed, but she was good. I’m glad I wasn’t disappointed!
And then on Tuesday was ZA’s Fireside Poetry Reading, where we invite professors and students from the Wellesley community to come read and share their poems reading by a…yep! A fireplace! It was so great, we had about 5 professors who came and read wonderful poems.
So I’m pushing through for my last week before we go on break for Thanksgiving. I need to get the crux of my CS project done by Thursday (today), so I can have the weekend to…1. complete an outline for my British history essay, and 2. CELEBRATE MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! I’m really looking forward to my birthday celebrations. I don’t know where November has gone. Seriously, where is all my time going?!!?!?
