I have post-its on my wall that count down the weeks for the semester, and it hit me that I’m on week 11. I only have 5~ more weeks of school. I can hardly believe it. As soon as Thanksgiving passes, we’re going to be done! But not quite there yet…!
So I had a pretty eventful Wednesday night this past week! It started off with a Russian dinner with Cassie at the Shakespeare House as part of the Russian Area Studies open house. Professor Turmarkin, my beloved Russian history teacher, invited the entire class to go, and it was so exciting! They had all these exotic Russian breads, meats, drinks, desserts, and side dishes. I wish I had taken a picture of all that food! But instead, here’s a real treat. This is a picture of Professor Nina Tumarkin singing a whole set of Russian ballads!! (sorry for the bad quality!!)
Also, side note, quote of the week: “You truly have not lived until you have been stalked by the KGB.” Wise words, Professor Tumarkin, wise words, indeed.
Then after that, Cassie and I headed to Wellesley’s on-campus museum, the lovely Davis Museum, which is located in the center of campus, for the Davis after Dark exhibition opening! They opened up all the new galleries to the public, had lots of great food, and invited musical guests and entertainers. This year, they invited in a taro card reader!! Nour, Cassie, and I waited in line for nearly an hour for that. It was a really fun experience, but I doubt I’m going to get married any time soon hahha!
Then on Friday, ZA had a November Birthday celebration in the house because we have so many this month–Brittany, Sarah, Camylle, Christine, and me!! Brittany and I baked red velvet cupcakes and some delicious brownies. We also ordered in a 58-piece sushi platter and pizza and watched Crazy, Stupid, Love, which was such a fabulous movie!! Such a great night, I had a blast! Here we all are (so many of us are missing in this!):
Then Saturday, I had a chill night in/ sleepover with Erin, which was just what I needed after turning in that HUGE midterm project for CS. On Sunday, ZA invited Arlene Cohen, Wellesley 94′, who wrote a book on the history of Wellesley, to come and share her story. It was such a great lecture; she talked about the founding of Wellesley, the fire of 1913 that burned down Wellesley’s only building at the time, and the story of how all of Wellesley’s current buildings (including my dorm) came to be! It was so interesting!!
So other things coming up later this week: my last midterm before Thanksgiving break is tomorrow (I’ve been SLAVING over it this entire past weekend and week) and semiformal is this Friday! We’re celebrating ZA’s 135th birthday!!!!
Talk to all you girls soon!
Ps, just because this makes me so happy, I must share– we’ve been having SPECTACULAR weather as of lately. Absolutly beautiful sunshine!!!
