Charlene Alexandra Lee: Los Angeleno, literature/CS lover, & 2014 Purple

Hello everyone!! My name is Charlene Lee, and I am part of Wellesley’s fabulously royal purple class of 2014! I am a Los Angeleno at heart, born and raised in Pasadena, California (about 10 minutes from the city), where I like to explore the different types of food around the city.

Here’s some fun facts about me:

  • I am part of the varsity squash team for Wellesley College Blue!

Celebrating with the squash team after our win against Boston College last year!

  • I have an unhealthy addiction to chai lattes, thanks to my roommate and the convenience of getting one brewed in the Lulu Campus Center
  • Post-its and moleksine notebooks are my favorite
  • I absolutely love reading and writing and am part of Zeta Alpha, the literary society on campus, as well.

Society Zeta Alpha Spring Formal in front of our little white house on Tupelo Lane!

  • I got a grant from Wellesley to start a photography project that reconnects girls of Asian descent who are adopted by Caucasian families to their heritage through disposable cameras and pictures. I hope to continue this project this semester as well!
  • Right now, I’m thinking I’m going to pursue a major in history. I was really split last semester about doing political science, or history, but after taking an amazing class in the history department last semester, I’m pretty set on studying history. I’m also tackling my first Computer Science course this semester and am thinking about even minoring in it. Who knows! I still have some time before I have to make these life decisions. But I’m not worried because I know I will be able to find help from my professors, deans, and, of course, my Wellesley big sister.

So first-years are paired with an upperclasswoman during the first month of school on Flower Sunday, and both become sisters (with the upperclasswoman as a big, and the first-year as a little). I absolutely love my Wellesley big. She helped me so much last year, giving me great advice about Wellesley, academics, and just life (sadly, she graduated last year, but she still gives me advice from across the country). Tomorrow is Flower Sunday, and I can’t wait to meet my new little! I will definitely post pictures of that in my next post.

Hopefully, I can offer you a peek into the life at Wellesley! I’m really excited to get a chance to share my life here and will be more than happy to answer any questions you have about the lifestyle, different organizations and opportunities on campus, professors, as well as the academics. Talk to you all soon!
