Packing Up, Senior Advice, and Leaving Wellesley (for now)

I have just finished packing up my entire room. It’s so surreal. It doesn’t feel like I’ve really been here for a whole year…or the fact that the next time I will step foot back on Wellesley’s campus will be a whole year and a half! Isn’t that crazy?? I’m going to miss Wellesley so much—the people, the professors, and definitely the classes! Wellesley has gotten me so far. It’s going to be so strange to see how I will be without Wellesley. In many ways, I know that Wellesley will still be with me, but it’s just going to take some adjustment.

I’m trying to keep a running list of things that Wellesley seniors have been telling me as their last parting words. Here’s a few of them:

  • Be compassionate. Wellesley has a lot of different people, and learning to accept people for who they are, the thoughts they have, and the decisions they make takes time.
  • Define success how you will. Success comes in many forms. Most popularly, it is narrowed down to academic and professional. But remember that it doesn’t necessarily have to fall into either one.
  • Find mentors. Talk to them. Learn from them. And don’t be afraid to ask questions.

So I am finally all done with finals. What’s so strange about finals is that it feels like it takes forever, but once you’re done, it doesn’t seem all that bad. Such a strange thing. So anyway, this week has been really great. Enjoying Boston and Wellesley without a care in the world is a really great feeling to have. On Tuesday, I said goodbye to Laura, turned in my last final, and hung out with Cassie all night. We began planning our Euro adventures already! I’m getting SO excited to be going abroad!

On Wednesday, I helped Cara move out of her room, packed a bit, and went out to North End with a friend for a long-awaited dinner. We went to Neptunes Oysters, which is a fabulous place to eat seafood and raw oysters. It was so good. On Thursday, I grabbed lunch with my senior friend, Lukiih, who has been such an inspiration to me over the years. She is so incredibly insightful, helpful, and knowledgeable. I am going to miss her greatly after she leaves. Getting to meet an array of students and learn from them is one of my favorite things about Wellesley.

On Friday, I grabbed sushi with Cassie in Harvard Square before wishing her goodbye. I’ll be seeing her in the fall in London, but alas—I hate goodbyes. I hurried back to campus to get my hair cut for a new season, a new job, and a new place—so off went 6 inches!! I know. It’s a crazy drastic move, but I feel like I just need it. Now, I need to finish packing up before my parents come tomorrow, and we head up to Maine for a few days with my brother before his graduation from Harvard on Thursday.

Lastly—I’m leaving you with a picture of my ZA family, a group of girls who have given me so much guidance and inspiration for the past year. I love them.

I will post one last time with some final thoughts about Wellesley following the graduation. Talk to you all then!
