Hello hello!
Just yesterday, I successfully registered for my last semester of classes at Wellesley! I can’t believe it. Less than two months left at Oxford before I go charging off to my summer internship, and then I begin my last few months at Wellesley!! Unbelievable.
Here’s my schedule by the way! 🙂
That’s right…I have no class on Tuesdays or Fridays!! Huzzah!!! 😀 😀 😀
ALSO I’m very proud of myself for having registered for classes WHILE on unreliable wifi in a cafe in Stockholm!! It was a super great cafe though–so hipster and so typical of Stockholm. After having walked around this city for the past few days, I’ve come to accept that the entire city (not just Sodermalm, the so-called “hipster” neighborhood of Stockholm) is just very well dressed with very styled hair and nice pants and leather shoes and glasses with cool rims. Yup. Check out this cafe!
And here’s the SUPER delicious (seriously, was very surprised) vegan salad I had there!!
And now here are some more pictures from Stockholm!
The Far East Asian museum had an AWESOME (best in Scandinavia I think they said) collection of SUPER OLD Chinese books!!
This is Stockholm just being casually beautiful. I didn’t know until I arrived here that Stockholm is actually a collection of a ton of little islands!! Like, all of them connected by bridges!! Seriously–“city center” is comprised of two islands already. And the rest of the city is like….so many islands, so many…
And this is from the Fotografiska (modern/activist/political/hipster/provocative photography) museum in Sodermalm (aka hipster town). Some pretty cool exhibitions actually! And a SUPER hipster cafe on the top floor.
And oh oh oh I almost forgot! I TURNED 21 ON SATURDAY THE 9TH!!! And I spent it reuniting with five Swedish friends I met in HangZhou, China THREE years ago! And we haven’t seen each other since but have managed to stay in touch and oh it was so SO good to see them! And it was such a great feeling of affirmation to be able to talk like no time had passed, as if our friendships had simply been on pause and now we’d hit the replay button when I arrived in Stockholm.
We met up at a super sweet (and not really hipster–just high class; I was definitely underdressed) hotel for drinks and then went back to one of the guys’ places to hang out and talk. We had so much to catch up on! So many things to ask each other and so much to talk about.
OH and I took a selfie with lemurs on my birthday too!!! They have in Stockholm this cool open-air museum that’s also kind of like a zoo (it’s called Skansen) and there’s one area where you can walk in an enclosed space with lemurs walking freely about! So super cool. You’re just not allowed to touch them.
AND on my birthday I ALSO went to the North Korean Embassy in Sweden! North Korea only has two embassies in the West, one in Sweden and one in Germany. Super cool!! My Couchsurfing host (who is Swedish) knew the ambassadors/diplomats (and has also been to North Korea before) so he was invited to this event–and it happened to be on my birthday!! That was a SUPER cool experience. Got to meet the diplomats’ children, too! We are now friends on facebook.
Aaaaand that’s been my AMAZING Stockholm trip so far! And so much more else has happened as well–but I don’t have enough time to tell you about it all!! Hope these pictures will suffice for now.
Until next week!
