Wow so much has happened since I last wrote to you! I know I seem to say that a lot, but it really is always true.
I’ve since broken up with my boyfriend (after spending a wonderful–well, that’s debatable; I thought it was wonderful but he didn’t–New Year’s Eve at the Airbnb) and we’re on good terms which I’m grateful for. I’m now living with a friend in a suburb of Boston, though I can still keep my things stored at ADPhi until I start back at Wellesley in the fall. (This is because we can’t use on-campus storage when we’re studying abroad, which is understandable.)
I have seen both “Sisters” and “The Big Short” twice. Yup. Just cuz they’re good. Sisters is hilarious and genius and fast-paced; you almost have to watch it twice to get all the jokes. And The Big Short is just…man. I know it’s Hollywood so I shouldn’t quit on my path to Wall Street just yet, but…it really makes me think twice about whether or not this is an industry I want to enter. I know 2008 is behind us, but it’s all still the same people at the same banks…
Speaking of NYC, do you know how crazy the rent is in that city???!?!?!? I mean, I’ve always heard horror stories but I never really took them seriously until is became my own apartment I was looking for. Over $1,000 a month for rent?!!? And usually over $1,500?? Are you KIDDING me?!?! NOBODY HAS THAT KIND OF MONEY.
Actually, not true. The salary from my internship will cover it–BUT STILL. THAT LEAVES $3,700+ LESS from a summer where I’ll probably be working 12+ hour days!!! Ugh it pains me just to think about it. But it’s okay. It’s alright. I will live.
I also went to a barn recently! A friend of a friend owns a horse and I GOT TO VISIT ALL THE HORSES. It was so incredible. 😀 I’ve always loved animals. And I’m always surprised at how BIG horses are!! Like, I’ve seen them plenty before, but I never cease to be taken aback each time. I should really learn to just remember their size. Anyway. They were beautiful. And it was cold. But that’s okay, because seeing the horses made up for it.
Speaking of the weather–I cannot wait to get back to jolly old Oxford where it’s actually not cold at all. At least not compared to here.
Phew! Still so many friends to see and I’m running out of time! I can’t believe my 3 weeks in Boston is already halfway over?! When did that happen?? Does time just forever keep picking up speed as you get older? Like the more years of life you live, the shorter each year becomes? Is that a thing?
Oh and–Happy New Year!! Can’t believe I forgot that until now! It also still hasn’t registered that it’s 2016 now. I graduate from college in one year?? And then what?? I have to be an adult?? !!!
Ugh ok I’ll end the freaking out. For now, I’m just happy to be a college student and still have winter and summer breaks. Like, seriously. Don’t take those for granted.
Until next week!
