In the words of Julia Child, Bonjour. (Sorry I felt obligated to mention her since I just saw Julie and Julia and this is a blog)
This week I have been hard at work on my American Studies paper. The assignment was to choose an object and analyze it to reveal something about American culture. So I decided to pick this little statue of George Washington that I have in my dorm room because hey – it's George Washington. I mean…who is more American than George Washington?! Although, now I am sort of regretting the decision because I will always look at my desk and think "Man, I can't believe that statue was made in China" or "I can't believe I wrote an entire paper based on the sentimentality people have for you George." Then I will nod my head slowly and realize I am talking to an inanimate object.
Volleyball has been going really really really well. Since our last game we've improved a lot. We seem to have finally meshed as a team. We've beaten Endicott, Colby, and WPI. This weekend we have the Tufts Invitational. Honestly, I am 50% excited for the games we're going to play, and 50% excited to make jokes about the fact that their mascot is the Jumbos (which is acceptable because ours is a color…just a color). Anyway, we really need to do well this weekend so wish us luck!
The rest of this week will be busy. I have a German test Friday, or should I say Freitag? It promises to be quite the challenge. More updates soon!
Bis Dann! (Until then auf Deutsch!)
