It's a Friday afternoon and I am absolutely relieved that the weekend is here! I just turned in a paper for my political science class about John Brady Kiesling, who resigned in protest over the Iraq War from the State Department in 2003. Thank God that paper is over with. I feel confident about it, but you never know with these things. The transition from high school level writing to college level writing is pretty difficult but so far there have been a lot of resources available to help.
I've noticed a trend as of late: I am terrible at reading weather conditions. I check every night so that I know what to wear the next day. And for some reason, I always think, "Oh hey, 65, that's not that bad," perhaps forgetting I get cold in summer. So I always end up wishing I had a jacket. It also kind of makes me feel like an idiot because it's 60 degrees almost every day, so clearly I haven't learned my lesson. That, or I am hoping I will build some sort of immunity to wind.
Today I also found out from my German professor that Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. I love Obama and everything, but I was still a little confused as to why he won. Apparently (according to CNN.com) Republicans are saying it will come back to bite him in the end. I guess if he loses the election for his second term we all know who to blame…the Norwegians. Just kidding.
Volleyball – We are getting better and better. We had one of the best positional practices ever yesterday so we're really excited for this weekend. Saturday and Sunday we will be at Smith College for the Seven Sisters playing the other inferior equally awesome women's colleges. In addition to playing, I also get to see my mom who will be visiting!!! She just got back from a two week vacation in Brazil, so I'm not only jealous, but also pale in comparison.
In other news: 30 Rock starts in a week!!! And Glee actually kept my interest last episode!
