When last I left you, our volleyball team was ready to enter the NEWMAC conference tournament. First, we played WPI – won. Next, we played Springfield – won. Then came our chance to prove ourselves. We played MIT (who we had previously lost to) in the finals and WON!!!! AHHH!!!! It was the absolute most exciting game I have ever played in. We played with absolute confidence. It was like we were some
unstoppable force. So now, because we won our conference, we advance to
the NCAA tournament – meaning if we win enough games, we could become
NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!! Our team could not be more excited. But wait – There's more!!! We got end of the year awards too!!! Our captain Alice Cummings was named Player of the Year for our Conference! No one deserved it more. It has been incredible having her lead us on the court. She was also named First Team All Conference. Elizabeth Campbell and Victoria Peng were both named to Second Team All Conference. Again – I couldn't ask for better teammates. They're awesome players and people. I was named Rookie of the Year and First Team All Conference which was both exciting and incredibly humbling. We play Clarkson on Thursday in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
On the academic side of life, the whole campus is feeling finals creeping closer. Tomorrow first years register for classes. I know what I want to take, but there is always the risk that the classes will be full by the time I am able to sign up (Seniors, Juniors, and Sophomores have already registered). Granted, most of the classes I am taking are primarily for first years so much of that risk is eliminated. I have to finish my writing requirement and I really want to take the writing class about Hitler. The funny thing is, if I get the schedule I want, I will go straight from German class to the Hitler class three days a week. It will definitely be interesting.
Well wish us luck! And if you live in the Boston area, come to our game at Tufts on Thursday at 5:30!
