Hello blog!
What a busy week it has been! This past weekend was friends and family weekend, so there were lots of people on campus starting around Thursday. Wellesley definitely chose a great time for people to visit because the leaves are in all their peak-autumnal glory. Who wouldn’t want to show off this campus?
My chamber music trio was programmed to perform at a concert this weekend, so we were in our final coachings and rehearsals this week. We’ve only had the music for about a month, so it was a bit of a faster turnaround than we’re used to. Perhaps we would get a few extra minutes of rehearsal if we didn’t document each rehearsal with a 0.5x selfie, but it makes great blog content (please see below image). We performed in the Chapel, which is a gorgeous space on campus complete with high wooden ceilings and stained glass windows.
It was a weekend full of concerts for me! On Friday night, I saw a few of my friends perform in Wellesley BlueJazz, including the pianist in my trio who also plays trombone (so multitalented). On Saturday after my performance, I saw the Boston Symphony Orchestra perform Mahler 6 at Symphony Hall with my mom. The classical music scene in the Boston area is incredible, and as a Wellesley student you can get a season pass to see the BSO!
Of course, Taylor Swift’s new album Midnights came out on Friday. I stayed up with my friends and had a mini listening party, just like we did with her rerecording of Red (Taylor’s Version) last year. I have to admit, the album is a bit disappointing for me personally, but it was fun to listen with my friends (and let’s be honest, the majority of campus) together. Speaking of more modern music, I also went on my friend’s radio show this week. Wzly is Wellesley’s radio station that is run by students. Tune in to my friend Anna’s show “charcuterie” at 4pm EST on Thursdays (I’m there sometimes too)! wzly.org/listen
Well, that was my very music-focused week! Up ahead for this week is major prep for my next orgo exam, lab work (I analyzed 4608 data points last week!), halloween festivities, and a craft fair I’m selling earrings at!
Until next time,
