Back From Thanksgiving Break

Hello Blog!

Long time no see – last week was very short because of Thanksgiving break and I was feeling a bit under the weather, but I’m glad to be back! These next few weeks are going to be pretty crazy. It’s T-14 days until the end of classes for the fall semester. Next week I have two midterms plus a big project due, and then I have one week before finals. Classes are wrapping up, final performances are being scheduled, and the sun isn’t setting any later, so it’s really important to finish strong!

Since we last spoke…

  • I presented at my first Tanner!: I was very excited to be part of such a large campus-wide conference. I loved hearing my friends present their own Tanners and see them in the audience of mine! Tanner is supposed to be slightly less scientific than Ruhlman, so I also enjoyed trying to make my research more understandable to people without very much background.
  • It snowed for the first time at Wellesley!: I was studying in the common room at night with my friend, and I looked out the window to see snow! We ran outside (in not nearly enough warm attire) to make sure it was real before we ran upstairs and got our roommates. There were a lot of people outside in the Quint (what we call the family or dorms mine belongs to) looking up at the snow, and it felt very picturesque (so I took a picture).
  • I had my first cold of the semester and it was not pleasant!: Perhaps not coincidentally I got sick right after I stood outside in the snow without a coat for 20 minutes. Let this be a lesson to always dress warmly in Massachusetts. The one upside of the entire situation was that my friend was also sick and her family brought her delicious homemade food that she shared with me. I have successfully recovered after a lot of rest and sustenance.
  • My roommate and I decorated our mini dorm Christmas tree!: When I went home for Thanksgiving break, my friends and I went to the transfer station in our town. It was there that I found a fake evergreen plant that sparked a vision. With a mini string of fairy lights and my very large collection of earrings, a festive tree was born! Who knew funky earrings would make such good mini Christmas tree ornaments?

Please wish me luck in these last few weeks of the semester, and I’ll see you next week for another update!

Until next time,
