I Met Lulu Chow Wang (not clickbait)

Hello Blog!!

This week was a short one in terms of academics (3 day week thanks to Fall Break) but not in terms of excitement! The top 3 events of this week included…

  1. Lunch with Lulu Chow Wang (!!!) This was an event organized by Karen Shih, the advisor to students of Asian descent. When I tell you I have never filled out a GoogleForm faster, I’m not joking. I got the email that we could have lunch with Lulu Chow Wang and signed up within seconds. She was being given an alumni achievement award and made the time to talk with 60 of us for about an hour and a half. I went with my little from flower sunday (hi Erika!) and a few of my friends, and it was a pretty surreal experience. Our campus center (which has my favorite dining hall) is named after her because she is such a famous alum, so to be able to listen to her talk in person in such an intimate setting was quite the experience. She had shared a lot of honest advice for us as current Wellesley students who will be entering the workforce soon. Plus, the bánh mi we ate for lunch were delicious.
  2. I saw the largest bug I have ever seen on Wellesley College’s campus. People were calling it a praying mantis, but it could also be a stick bug. I will include a picture of it below if anyone reading is a bug expert. This was at the Admission Office fall gathering, which was behind Stone D in this lovely little courtyard by the lake. It’s one of my favorite spots on campus because it has a ping pong table that my little brother and I will play at whenever he comes to visit campus. We ate lots of fall themes snacks, made door decorations, and gawked at the very large bug.
  3. Sammy Rae & the Friends came to Boston, and I went to the concert with some friends. Sammy Rae is a wholly college artist for me, if that makes sense. I discovered the band last year right around this time, so to go to her concert with friends who I was also meeting around this time last year was a very full circle experience. The band is immensely talented and they have such a wonderful stage presence. She’s an artist that my roommate and I like to put on when we’re cleaning the room because the energy is so good we can’t help but do everything joyfully (even sweeping). You should definitely check them out!

Well, that’s all for this week! Stay tuned for my reaction to Taylor Swift’s new album, which drops this week. That will surely be an all-campus event.

Until next time,
