The last full week before Thanksgiving break!

Hello Blog!

Very exciting announcement to start us off: I am now a junior member of the Guild of Carillonneurs! I had my advancement on Friday, played my very first concert on the big bells, and successfully spelled the word carillonneur. Now that I’m no longer an apprentice, I can play my pieces for the rest of campus whenever I want (except during classes). In fact, my mom and brother came to visit this weekend, and I took them up in the tower to play a short concert. We’re prepping for the Holiday Open Tower right now, which will be the first campus event I play for.

I must say, I’m also feeling like a real member of the Guild because last night I finally watched the musical that a lot of the members are obsessed with. If there are any Elisabeth Das Musical fans reading, just know you will have a place here at Wellesley College. We made doortags, did homework, chatted, and watched a musical entirely in German with some of the most sparkly costuming I have ever seen.

Switching gears, I spent a lot of time this week in the Science Complex this week. Tomorrow is the Tanner Conference, which is a day when classes are canceled and over 200 students present about (usually) their summer experiences. Wellesley College students are often very humble, so it’s really cool to go to all of your friend’s sessions and see what they spend their time on. Plus, the food is delicious. I’m presenting about the research I did this summer!

Finally, my week would not be complete without lots of organic chemistry. A few of my friends and I spent a lot of time this Sunday at “whiteboard alley” in the Science Complex. It’s always fun when we get together because I’m a Chemical Physics major and my two other friends are Biochemistry and Biophysics majors, so we make up the core natural sciences! We were “concept mapping” what we had learned the past week and were sure to send our professor some fun pictures (see below) as well as our questions.

That’s all for this week! Wish me luck on my Tanner tomorrow, and I’ll be back next week!

Until next time,
