Work Hard Play Hard 😤

Hello Blog!

This is the week. I’ve been gearing up for a presentation in my research lab for the past few weeks (and let’s be honest, the past 8 months I’ve been in the lab), and it’s happening on Friday! This is a presentation essentially summarizing the research I’ve been involved with since I joined the lab as well as what students worked on before me. The previous students who worked on this project have graduated, so it’s just me right now. This is also my first time formally communicating with our collaborators, so to say I’m a bit nervous would be an understatement. Preparing for the presentation has been a really valuable experience, though, because I’ve been able to meet with my PI (Principal Investigator aka. faculty member who leads the lab) multiple times and really gain an understanding of what happened in the lab before I joined.

But after that presentation, it’ll be a 3-day weekend! My friends and I are going to be spending some time off campus in Providence, RI and Marblehead, MA. First, we’ll be heading to Providence for my friend’s ultimate frisbee tournament. She’s on the Wellesley Whiptails, so this is the first away game my friends and I will be attending. We’re hoping to check out some of the museums in the area and enjoy the nice weather by spending time outside! Next, we’ll head to stay with my friend’s family in Marblehead. We’re planning a delicious menu and lots of beach visits. I’m still working on convincing my friends to do a polar plunge…

This was a big contrast to this past weekend – very Wellesley-centered. First, the Guild had our annual Truly’s outing. Truly’s is an ice cream shop in the Ville that is my personal favorite! They have huge serving sizes and I love the raspberry sorbet. It’s a tradition for the Guild to go at the beginning of every semester to meet the new apprentices! Next, my mom and I went to Symphony Hall together and saw the BSO debut of one of my favorite cellists, Sheku Kanneh-Mason. I’ve seen him every time he’s performed in Boston, so this is my third performance of his I’ve seen. It was an incredible concert! I spent the rest of the weekend at home spending some time with my family. There were some delicious rice krispies involved.

Until next time,
